Dance Recital

Another first. Maia had her first (of many, I'm sure) dance recitals last weekend. I'm not afraid to admit that I had butterflies in my stomach for her. Her class has been practicing for weeks. This dance recital is a big deal in Durango. I'm talking about on the big stage (600 seats). Sold out crowd each night. Costumes and makeup and hair and a lot of other things I am not familiar with! Pretty much every person we have met since we moved to Durango was there.

She did amazing! Her class of 3-4 year olds opened the show with their ballet routine. And everybody loved it! I was worried that Maia would freeze on stage when she saw all the people in the crowd, but she remembered all of her steps and looked so grown-up up there. Most importantly, she had a blast! She and all of her dance friends soaked up all the cheers and applause and some had to be encouraged off the stage - I'm taking about you Vivian (Maia best friend that is almost all these pictures with her)!
(Thanks Mandie for this amazing Photo!)

I continue to be surprised by the awesomeness of my girls. And I continue to be surprised at how much pride I have for them. I may have cried a little bit (or a lot) at both recitals - surprise, surprise. It's moments like this one that make you feel like you might be nailing this whole parenting thing!
