Bike Riding with Eva

Eva just completed her 3rd session of mountain bike riding classes! She continues to enjoy riding with her friends each week and had shown the most amount of improvement with this session. My girl officially tears up the BMX dirt track now and likes going "off-road" the best! 

Fall is upon us here in Durango and soon it will be time to put her bike away for the winter but I think she might be ready for peddles in the spring!

Spud Lake

We tried this same hike with the girls back in July but had to turn around before reaching the lake because Maia was sick. 
Made it this time! Nana (Joanne) joined us and the girls did awesome! Their little legs carried them to almost 10,000 feet and back down again with no complaints. Maia did the entire trial by herself (Eva did ALMOST the whole trail before she required assistance)! So proud of my little hikers! 
The fall colors were amazing (pictures don't do it justice)! We are one lucky family to live so close to these incredible outdoor adventures!

Big Day for Maia!

Maia started Pre-K today!

Wow! What a difference a year makes! She has grown and changed so much over the last year. I mean, she might as well have been going to high school this morning as far as I am concerned! She was so excited and confident. She ran right into school, put her backpack on her hook, walked right into the classroom, and was off with her friends before I had her signed in (I barely got a hug before she was gone!). 

Maia has always been insanely independent (and a handful!) but days like today, she makes me realize how fast she really is growing up. I know I'm not a neutral party...but she is turning into such a smart and kind and beautiful person!

And yes, I cried on the drive home...while Magan rolled her eyes at me!

Gymnastics Update

In between all of our other summer activities, both girls have been spending a lot of time at the gym. 
Eva has been in gymnastics since early this year. Maia took her first gymnastics class earlier this summer. After the first session both girls were invited to join advanced classes! 
Eva is only two and a half but she was invited to join the three years and above class. And Maia was invited to join an advanced skills class. 
I couldn't be prouder! Seriously, these girls and their athletic ability amaze me! 
They both have shown a lot of improvement and they both still get excited to go every week, so I guess we will stick with gymnastics for a while. They will also start their mountain biking classes again in a few weeks and Maia will continue with preschool and dance. Looks like it will be a busy fall.

Fairy Tea Party

The girls made a "fairy tree" yesterday (yeah...the things I am learning as the Dad of 2 little girls) and invited some fairies to come live in it. Low and behold, 2 fairies showed up in the middle of the night. Maia named hers Stella and Eva named hers Cookie. They are now hosting a fairy tea party to welcome them to their new tree. Because, apparently, that's the polite thing to do.
